The Cinema 4.3 Zebmate from
is a PMP featuring audio/video
playback, a photo viewer, an eBook
reader, an audio recorder and a stereo FM
receiver. It is a feature-rich media player,
fl aunts good aesthetics and has a fairly
good build, using a dual-tone glossy and
matte-fi nished shell. The player sports
only a power switch and the rest of the
interface completely relies on its resistive
touchscreen. The player sports a large
crisp and bright 4.3-inch, 480x272 TFT
display with a wide viewing angle. The
rear panel houses a tiny mono speaker,
while the left side sports a 3.5 mm stereo
jack for headphones or line-out coupled
with the component video output to a
TV set. Also available on the same side
is a mini USB 2.0 jack for transferring
the media fi les to the onboard 8 GB
storage as well for charging the device’s
built-in Li-polymer 1500 mAH battery. The
memory can also be expanded using a
MicroSD card. The Cinema 4.3 can play 13
hours of music or 4.5 hours of video on a
single charge. The media player supports
a large number of fi le formats, including
MKV, MOV, WMV, FLV, 3GP, MP4 and
VOB along with support for subtitle and
ID3 tags. Using the device was a great
experience with jitter-free 720p videos
playing without any eff ort. The skinnable
user interface is very easy to navigate, but
is a bit cumbersome and sluggish. Then
again, you cannot expect too much from
a resistive touchscreen. A D-pad-based
control panel would have made life a lot
easier. Bundled along with the player is a
pair of earphones, a USB cable, charger,
and a clip-on desk stand. The component
cable is an optional accessory, which
should have actually been bundled
along. Considering its playback quality,
aesthetics, media compatibility and
overall features in relation to its price
tag, a great portable media player
for personal use or as a gift.
