MICROMAX X450 VAN GOGH PHONE

The X450 aka Van Gogh comes bundled with a Bluetooth headset as its USP. It is a well designed handset with a rear panel that can be swapped. The lack of a micro SD hot swap slot is a bit of a disappointment. The 2.4-inch display is clear even in bright outdoor conditions. The Bluetooth headset has a built-in cradle at the rear of the handset and in no way hinders usage. It features a pretty standard Java OS that manages to function quite smoothly except when it came to refreshing the media sections. It handles dual SIM (GSM + GSM) functions quite seamlessly. The music quality is better than average, with playback for low res videos and a built in FM radio also thrown in. The bundled Bluetooth headset is comfortable to wear, but the lack of a era-clip could hamper prolonged use. The X450 supports GPRS and WAP with Bluetooth (A2DP) and USB 2.0. eBuddy is thrown in for chatting and Opera Mini can be used as an alternative to the native browser. The 2 megapixel fixed focus camera delivers average image quality at best. The Van Gogh manages to provide excellent battery life, which is a major factor to take into account.
Verdict: The X450 works out to be quite a value for money handset with an innovative USP.
For: Well designed handset, ergonomic Bluetooth handsfree kit built in, good audio quality, great battery life.
Against: Average photo quality, no email support.
