SONY ERICSSON XPERIA X10 MINI SMARTPHONE

I have always been a Sony Ericsson fan and since 2001, all my mobile handsets, starting with the T68i, have been from the same brand. Recently, the company started migrating to Android, which inspired me to pick an Xperia X10 Mini.
My experience of using the Mini started out great. The handset has a good build and a sufficiently fast user interface. I dropped the phone once, but it managed to get away with just a minute scratch. But my troubles started a week after purchasing it. There were two problems: fi rst, when the phone was switched of  but connected to the charger, it would come on automatically. This left me with no choice but to switch to Airplane mode when I didn’t want to be disturbed by unnecessary calls. When asked, the Sony Ericsson service center in Mumbai, toll-free phone support agents and the online support gave me the same response: “Sir, the phone starting up when charging is a feature of the Xperia X10 Mini handset”. This made me lose all hope of ever being able to disable this “feature”. More seriously, the Mini would randomly restart at any given time, often when a phone call ended. I re-fl ashed the phone to make sure it wasn’t a fi rmware glitch, but the problem persisted. It was only when SE released an update to Éclair (Android v2.0) in December 2010 that the automatic resets reduced. Otherwise, as far as the phone itself is concerned, I really adore the high-end quality and compact styling, though I sometimes wonder whether I should have opted for its elder brother, the Xperia X10, which has a much larger screen and is a lot more comfortable to use. I’m also unhappy because Sony Ericsson shipped its early Android phones with v1.6 (Donut) and I had to wait for almost six months to get an oi  cial Éclair update. I was very disappointed when the company announced that none of the Xperia X10 handsets would receive any further updates. Now in hindsight, I seem to have made a bad choice. Anyone looking to buy a used X10 Mini?
