SEAGATE FREEAGENT-GOFLEX DESK

The FreeAgent GoFlex Desk comes with 3 TB of storage and is upgradeable to USB 3.0. It has a usable space of 2.72 TB and has a spindle speed speed of 7200 rpm. The front consists of status LEDs while the back consists of the power supply slot and micro USB connectivity. Seagate has bundled some security and backup software with the drive. We put the drive through a few synthetic and real world tests. CrystalDiskMark scores gave a random 4K read speed of 0.573. Sequential write speed was 28.64 MB/s. The scores are pretty decent for a 3 TB drive. Users wanting to buy this drive should use it as a desk-based external drive with partial portability. Overall, we’d love to see a price drop for the 3 TB drive - who wouldn’t - but the drive is definitely a good buy.
Verdict: Massive storage space and good performance for a good price.
For: Plenty of storage space, fast, good design and build.
Against: None.
